Computers are like cars, if
you do not look after them they will eventually let you down, like a
car, regular servicing can keep your PC or Laptop operating as it
should.
Has your machine stopped
working? Has it slowed down? Is it noisy? Does it just need a good
Spring Clean and Service? Many Computers are positioned on the floor
where because they generate a lot of
static electricity they
attract and suck in dust and dirt, this accumulation can over a
period damage the cooling fans and the processor causing unexpected
shutdowns etc. We will remove accumulated dust etc from the power
supply and processor fan and motherboard, check all cards and
connections, replace cooling fans where necessary. 
The picture on the right shows the effect of smoking and dust which
has stuck to the nicotine that has been sucked in by the fan.
Laptops are often operated on the users knees or on bedclothes or
cushions where the ventilation holes get blocked leading to
overheating and a shorter life, always use a board or tray.

PC and Laptop
Repairs and Upgrades
Our first operation is to blow out the dust that inevitably
accumulates within the computer, this cannot be easily done by
sucking it out with a vacuum cleaner, we use compressed air.
Diagnose the problem
Faults are not always obvious, for example a problem with the
screen display can be caused by a faulty memory, a faulty
motherboard, a faulty screen or something as simple as a loose
connection. Other faults
can be just as confusing.
We use professional diagnostic software to help pinpoint any issues.
If replacement parts are required we will contact you to advise you
of the various options that may apply. We do not wherever possible,
attempt to carry out repairs at your home or business premises,
whilst we may be able to fix the immediate problem there will not be
time to properly service your machine, our fixed charge is based on
doing the work in our workshop. We can pick up and return our PC or
laptop for you, or for priority service you can drop it in to us,
in most we will not need the screen, just the base unit.
If possible have the
original disks, if any, that came with your machine, this makes our
job a lot easier if we have to re-install your software or a driver.
Always save documents and pictures and other data in 'My Documents',
if we have to save your data for any reason we will be able to find
it.
We will always make
sure that suitable Anti-virus and Anti-malware software is installed
and up to date, there is no need to purchase expensive versions of
these programs as there are several free ones that provide plenty of
protection for the Home user.
Charges
Our standard Fixed Price Repair and Service Charge is jus £45,
no VAT, the only additional charges would be for parts. Other work
is charged by agreement.
Laptop Screen or Hinge Replacement
We are used to replacing Laptop screens and/or hinges as they
are so easily damaged as are DC Power Sockets, if we do not have one
in stock we will obtain one for you.
Upgrades
Computers very quickly become
outdated. This does not mean that the whole system needs to be
replaced. An upgrade can give your system a new lease of life.

We will
happily fit any upgrades you have bought yourself - as long as they
are compatible with your system.
Note: if your existing machine is more than a few years old it
is probably not economical to upgrade it as components such as
current memory, motherboards and processors are not compatible with
those that were available then. A new entry level machine today will
often outperform what was considered to be a top of the range
machine three years ago.
Monitors
You may be longing for a new Flat Panel screen to replace your old
glass CRT monitor (gives you loads more desk space), simply call us
we will obtain and install it for you, again for a small handling
charge
New Computers
Whilst we can supply new PCs or Laptops it is probably simpler
in most cases for you, the customer, to shop around for a machine
that you like look and feel of, most machines these days will easily
do what most people need and more. We can certainly advise you as to
our preferred makes and specifications. If you require a PC with
specific requirements, such as a high end gaming machine we can
build one for you.
Networking
If your home or small business has more than one PC, you may benefit
from installing a network. A network can be wired or wireless.
Some of the advantages of a network are -
- you can easily share files between
PCs - no more saving to floppy disk to move files from one
computer to another
- you
can share peripherals such as a printer, CD writer, DVD drive
etc.

important data quick and easy
- the secure sharing of an
internet connection

Wireless and
Broadband
We can help you with any problems you may have with regard to
Wireless Networking around your home or Office, if your Broadband is
not working we can find out why.
Broadband Installation
Broadband in itself is not difficult however if you are not
technically minded it may present a bit of a challenge, if you have
signed up with BT or one of the other ADSL suppliers you will
receive the modem and software in a box, that is were we can come in
and set it up for you.
If you
have signed up for Broadband and require an email address make sure
that your supplier knows this as it may not be included in their
basic package.
Hardware
Printers, Scanners etc can sometimes be tricky to set up, just
give us a call and we will help you.
Web Page Design and
Hosting
We can set up Web Hosting for your web page for you, we can even
help with the design of your website.
